The Trough - South Branch River

The river cuts the Trough through the surrounding ridges in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains near Romney WV. The B&O Railroad cut a path along the side of the ridge in the 19th century and the only way to this inaccessible region is by foot on the railroad, by the Potomac Flyer scenic railroad, or by boat on the river.
